65Amps London Pro: New Red Line Guitar Amplifier Announced
From Hollywood, California, 65amps rolled out the red carpet and introduced the London Pro tube amp, the first of the company's new Red Line amplifiers.
Hand-made in the USA, the low-powered London Pro offers the convenience of a small amp combined with big feel and tone. According to 65amps, amplifiers in the Red Line offer high-quality construction and tone to working guitar players at a more accessible price than the current 65amps Blue Line models. The London Pro is available as a head, 2 x 12 combo, or 1 x 12 combo.
The 18W London Pro, powered by two EL84s, offers two distinct channels: the EF86 Colour Channel and the 12AX7 Channel. These two channels can be combined for a third, high-gain option; when the channels are combined, the volume and tone knobs on each distinct channel will control the gain and tone for just the tubes on the channel they are assigned. All channels can be controlled by the included footswitch.
Also included with the London Pro is the Master Voltage feature, which was designed to reduce the voltage and output of the amp in a certain way to enable the amp to be played at extremely low volumes without losing its tone and feel. The London Pro is housed in a streamlined head and cabinet design constructed from void-free Baltic birch, and it is equipped with hand-made American transformers, a new red badge logo, and Celestion G12H30 speakers.
Preliminary prices (all MSRP) for the London Pro are as follows:
- London Pro head $1,850
- London Pro 1 x 12 combo $2,295
- London Pro 2 x 12 combo $2,395
- Red Line 1 x 12 cabinet $525
- Red Line 2 x 12 cabinet $595
In addition to announcing the London Pro and the Red Line, 65amps disclosed details on a new unit in the premier Blue Line. The yet-to-be-named unit combines three distinct but classic British amp voices in one amplifier and will be debuted officially at the next NAMM show.
