Gemini MM4000: Making It Easier To Ruin -- Uh, Enhance Your DJ Set With Vocals

May 13, 2008
Gemini MM4000

Back when God (Kool DJ Herc) invented hip-hop, the DJ was the man with the mic. The whole reason for the breakbeat was to give the set a vocal break, so that the rappers of yore could yells things like "everybody say BRONX!!!" and "if you own the blue Pinto in the lot with its lights on, SCREAM!!!"

Nowadays the MC's become th star of the show, but the new Gemini MM4000 give control back to the mixmaster by taking the company's MM3000 5-Channel mixer, and incorporating a set of features that are tailored for vocal mixing.

The MM4000 features four 1/4" unbalanced mic inputs in addition to the standard XLR master mic input. A new effects section features a dry/wet mix, and a rotary selector allows for the incorporation of 16 different effects into the vocal mix. The effects are tailored for vocals, and include reverbs, delays, echoes, choruses and flangers.

The Gemini MM4000 also sports a "Designed for iPod" logo on the faceplate, which has come to mean "this unit has RCA ins."
