JBL LSR4328p Recalibration With DJ Puzzle
The JBL LSR4328p reference monitors may not appear to be as exciting as a soft synth or DAW, but these monitors have some hidden tricks that DJ Puzzle walks through in this video. Here, DJ Puzzle takes us through the process of recalibrating these speakers using a special feature called Room Mode Correction. Check out the video for more information.

JASON DONNELLY: Hi. This is Jason with Gearwire.Com. I put a [SOUNDS LIKE] brog down on my workspace today so I thought I'd recalibrate my JBL 4328p's. What do I mean by that? Well, these speakers are really neat. This is a new technology by JBL. It's called room mode correction, and it's built into these speakers, and I thought I'd show you how to do it right here on Gearwire.
First of all, what I want to do is show you the back of this speaker. So, let's take a look at the back of the speaker.
So, here's the back of the JBL LSR4328p's. Here we have SPDIF in and out. I'm going in analog here for my mixer. You also have AES/EBU in and outs. This is a CAT5 network cable; this connects the speakers to each other so they can communicate, and it also allows them to communicate with any external control device such as the PC or the wireless remote that comes with the speakers. There's a USB, and then there's these dipswitches here. You want to make sure that you have -- This is my left speaker so I have this dipswitch set to left, and then you want to go ahead and do the same with the other speaker.
Okay. So let's move on to the actual RMC. Position the calibration microphone with a mic stand, standing straight up, pointing at the ceiling, and place it pretty much exactly where you would sit in relationship to your speakers, and so I'm just going to plug the calibration microphone in right here. I'm going to set my speakers in position.
All right. Now, for the really cool part, hold your RMC button down and watch the magic.
