Sonivox Eighty-Eight Offers Amazingly Realistic Piano Sounds For Amazingly Little Moolah
January 21, 2009
The very reasonably-priced Sonivox Eighty-Eight is a virtual piano plugin that's virtually indistinguishable from the real thing (your back will know the difference, however). Jason Jordan proudly relates how 16 and 20 sampled velocities were used to make up every note, and how sampled pedal noise and other nuances bring the sampled Steinway D Grand to life.
While Jason admits that others have modeled the Steinway D before, a quick listen will assure you that no one has achieved what Sonivox has in the extreme piano registers. He does not, however, explain why Corey Feldman was at Winter NAMM.
