Ableton Amp: Guitar Amps And Cabinet For Ableton Live 8 / Suite 8
Co-developed with Softube, Ableton Amp is a new audio effect that adds the warmth and drive of legendary amplifiers and cabinets to Ableton Live 8 or Suite 8 projects.
In addition to a number of different amp models, Amp comes with Cabinet, a separate effect that provides a selection of classic guitar cabs with optimized microphones and mic positioning.
Ableton has also included a range of sounds designed to transform Ableton's instruments and effects with Amp's new sonic character. These sounds include Instrument and Effect Racks, Live Clips, and more than 400 presets. Amp requires Ableton Live / Suite 8.2 or higher.
Amp models are as follows:
- Ableton Amp - Clean model: Clean is based on the "Brilliant" channel of a classic amp from the 1960s, according to Ableton, this amp was widely used by guitarists of the British Invasion
- Ableton Amp - Boost model: Boost is based on the "Tremolo" channel of the same amp and is great for edgy rock riffs
- Ableton Amp - Blues model with Live effects: Blues is based on a 1970s-era guitar amp with a bright character; this classic amp is said to be popular with country, rock, and blues guitarists
- Ableton Amp - Rock model with Live effects: Rock is modeled after a classic 45W amp from the 1960s, one that Ableton says is perhaps the best known rock amp of all time
- Ableton Amp - Lead model: Lead is based on the "Modern" channel of a high-gain amp popular with metal guitarists
- Ableton Amp - Heavy model: Heavy is based on the "Vintage" channel of the same amp and is also ideal for metal and grunge sounds
- Ableton Amp - Sly Bass: Bass is modeled after a rare PA from the 1970s, which has become popular with bass players due to its strong low end and "fuzz" at high volumes
Where do you get it? Amp is included with Ableton Suite 8 and is available separately for $129 from the Ableton Web shop.
