Ableton / Serato The Bridge Connects Multitrack Productions And Turntable Control
It seems that everyone, including Serato, is jumping on the Ableton boat these days. At Winter NAMM 2010, Ableton and Serato announced The Bridge, their collaborative effort that connects the music production power of Ableton Live to the hands-on DJ tools provided by Serato Scratch Live / Itch.
The Bridge is said to work in both directions, from Ableton to Serato and vice versa. It provides Ableton Transport Control (ATC) that in turn gives DJs turntable-style control of their own multitrack productions. Using ATC, you can drag a Live Set onto one of the decks in Scratch Live or Itch and use their turntables, CDJ, or Itch controller to control the transport.
Likewise in Scratch Live (pictured below) or Itch, you can perform mixes and save them as a Live Set rather than labor over a cut and paste mix job in a DAW.
The Bridge is free for registered owners of both Serato Scratch Live / Itch hardware and Ableton Live 8 or Suite 8. Stay tuned to Gearwire for further updates on The Bridge and its impending release date.
