Mongolian Mixtape Marathon: A Journey Of 10,000 Miles Starts With An Hour Of Your Mix
July 11, 2009 marks the start of a 10,000-mile journey of two music-mad drivers from London to Mongolia. Their objectives? To raise money for Save The Children, in association with the Mongolian Charity Rally, and to bring educational materials and clothing to donate to the Mongolian People. With such a long stretch of road ahead of them, they will definitely need a collection of music to keep their spirits pumped up for the task.
As they will be spending an estimated 800+ hours on the road, they are asking all DJs from around the world, whether big names or bedroom DJs, to submit/upload a one-hour mix of their favorite tunes as well as make a small donation (of at least 1 UK pound). They will then put the mixes together and listen to them nonstop as they drive up all the way to Mongolia.
The money they will receive from the Mongolian Mixtape Marathon will be used for much needed fuel and repair costs. The rally itself costs 3000 UK pounds per team to enter and complete.
Besides giving out much needed help, all of the mixes will be podcasted as a testament to your mixing prowess. The mixes will be also available on their web site for a year after their voyage has been completed making it one great way of getting exposure. Not only do you get a chance to be heard across the net, you also get a chance to win a copy of Ableton Live 8 courtesy of one of their sponsors, Ableton. With just a small donation and your great mix, supporting a cause might bring you to the heights of DJ greatness as well.
