Access Atomizer: DJ Puzzle Gets Atomized
In this final installment of DJ Puzzle Jason Donnelly's exploration of Access Atomizer, he stumbles upon some of the more advanced features of the application. For example, by hitting the C#1 key while adjusting the mod wheel, the user will actually DISAPPEAR. This will make you immortal at parties.
Also, playing a D sus4 chord while listening to Journey's Don't Stop Believing will make you immortal.
JASON DONNELLY: Jason Donnelly with Gearwire.Com and the Access Atomizer. A nice little remix tool, definitely a cool real time glitch creator/remixer. I can grab smaller slices up here at the top of the keyboard and it actually pitches them. [JASON PLAYS WITH THE ACCESS ATOMIZER] That's pretty neat. And of course your pitch bend applies -- you can adjust the pitch bend to an extreme amount of pitch bending to get some pretty cool effects. You can also use the internal Virus TI effects such as filters and distortion and delay.
So, we're looking at the C1 note as a gating effect. Okay, so let's see. I'll take this out here [JASON PRESSES C1]. C#1; that's why I'm not getting anything here. The D is reverse C#1. These are gating. [JASON PRESSES C#1] Okay, so it's obviously gating on a very large setting here. Again, I just cracked this open so forgive me. Okay, so D#1 is also gating. Okay, so I'm figuring this out here. On the E1, we're looping at half notes; I thought this calculates the BPM while [INDISCERNIBLE] I just switched it up. We have quarter note looping on F, F# 16th notes, [JASON PRESSES G] 8th notes, [JASON PRESSES G#] 12th -- Oh no, I'm sorry. F# was -- that's a 1/6, [JASON PRESSES G] we have here 1/18, [JASON PRESSES G#] 1/12, [JASON PRESSES A] 1/16, [JASON PRESSES A#] 1/24, [JASON PRESSES B] and a 32nd note. Okay, it stops there when it comes from here. And so up here we have pitched slices [JASON PLAYS UPPER RANGE KEYS]. Again the D here is a reverse effect. Our modulation wheel can be used as a crossfader. We've got out pitch bend, and there is a gate effect, and for some reason I don't know what I'm doing and I [SOUNDS LIKE] have not been able to get that to work just yet.
"Atomizer features a sophisticated implementation of a DJ-kill-EQ-style audio gater effect. It's C# to gate all incoming audio then move the mod wheel." I see. Okay, to the narrow range. [JASON TRIES OUT INSTRUCTION] Ah, okay. That's pretty cool [JASON TRIES OUT INSTRUCTION SOME MORE].
"D#2 does exactly the same as D#1. If you hit D#2 while holding D#1, you temporarily release the gater key, which is fun when performing stutter effects." Okay, let's see how that works. D#1 and D#2. I have the microphone in my hand so I can't play these octaves here. [JASON TRIES OUT INSTRUCTION]
So, as you can see, it's a very powerful realtime audio slicer and dicer and definitely a lot of fun to work with. Forgive me; I spent about 45 minutes to an hour on this and did it all right here in front of the camera. Well, about 90% of it in front of the camera; 10% will end up on the cutting room floor, and hopefully it will never surface to the Gearwire.Com site.
This is Jason Donnelly, this is the Access Atomizer software on the Virus TI, and thank you for watching Gearwire.Com.

is this a demo about preparing to demo ?
Unhhh, figure it out and plan what you are going to demonstrate before you start recording the demo video.
I like that you have actual ideas of what to do with this feature. More of that and less of the confusion would make for a great video.
Cheers

Has anyone actually got this atomizer effect running on a sequencer with a finished project?
Trying everything i can think of to get the most from it!
