Access Virus TI Oscillator Tutorial With Bill Holland, Part Two
In this section of Bill Holland's Access Virus TI tutorial on oscillation, Bill adds oscillator two into the mix. Bill complicates his original wave by adding a complementary wave to his saw wave on oscillator one. You can watch part one of Bill's tutorial if you missed it here.
Stay tuned to Gearwire.com where Bill will finish off his series on working the oscillator function on the Access Virus TI.
BILL HOLLAND: ...plus you'll kind of get that early 90s Detroit sound. We'll bring it to zero now [BILL TWEAKS OSCILLATOR FURTHER], and I think we’re going with the sawtooth, something a little more abrasive than what we would get out of pulse or [INDISCERNIBLE].
Alright, so lets look at Detune. Right now it's detuned -- actually, it's not detuned at all; it's at zero [BILL TWEAKS DETUNE KNOB]. Let's keep it right about 45.
Alright, now we'll want to add a second oscillator to this but we want something that's going to complement that saw wave. Now, we can do a second saw wave and beef up that, or we could add more character to it and have an actual square wave instead, so let's go to -- hit the select button here and go to oscillator 2. Now, so if I want it to be a pulse, select whatever you want this to be.
Now you'll notice that if I want to go in and do this without the knobs but I want to do everything digitally, I'm on oscillator 2, I hit edit, and let's hit edit; it brings up the edit oscillator 2 menu, and notice 1 through 4. Again, hit parameter key, scroll through all that, all your options, your FM amount, filter envelope, etc. And right now, were in classic mode so [BILL PLAYS ARPEGGIO] change that to hypersaw [BILL PLAYS ARPEGGIO AND CONTINUES TWEAKING], and right now it didn't sound like it's making a ton of a difference but it's a little adjustment that can be made but here you'll see as I take the mod wheel up [BILL MOVES MOD WHEEL UP], now you hear them coming through because I've taken the balance of it. It sounds like one of them is detuned as well, so let's see if it's -- take everything to zero [BILL TWEAKS DETUNE], go back to oscillator 1 [BILL TWEAKS FURTHER].
