Say hello to the ADAM Professional Audio A77X, the latest addition to the AX series of speakers.

According to the manufacturer, the new A77X is a game changer in that it is equipped with the same advanced technologies as the ADAM A7X, making it similar to the two-way speaker. The A77X, however, distinguishes itself by its much higher, compression-free maximum sound pressure levels and dynamics, ADAM says. Due to its power and radiation characteristics, it also is perfectly suited for both near- and mid-field monitoring.

Like all models in the AX series, the A77X features the ADAM proprietary X-ART tweeter (for "eXtended" frequency response). Features that set the new A77X apart from other speakers in the line include improved Accelerating Ribbon Technology, a frequency response that extends all the way up to 50 kHz, and higher efficiency and higher maximum sound pressure levels (SPL) for the X-ART tweeter.

The AX77 sports two 7-inch woofers identical to those of the A7X. With their large voice coils (1.5-inch) and amplifiers, they are capable of high maximum SPL and very deep registers. According to ADAM, the woofers do not cover the same frequency bands; while one of them is responsible for the (sub-) bass frequencies up to about 400 Hz, the other takes over most of the mid range.

Each driver has its own dedicated amplifier. A 50W A / B amp is responsible for the X-ART tweeter, while the bass / mid-woofers are driven by a 100W PWM amp each.

The front panel includes a power switch and a control for the volume that retains the volume setting independently from the on / off switch. On the rear panel there are several additional controls: a gain for the high frequencies (± 4 dB) and two shelf filters for high and low frequencies. For better compatibility, there are both XLR (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced) connectors.
