Aguilar Amplification Filter Twin: New Dual Envelope Filter

July 06, 2010
Aguilar Amplification Filter Twin dual envelope filter offers two filters and Blend, Threshold, and Velocity controls.

Classic 1970s-style funk and unique, vocal-like filtered tones are what you'll get from the new Aguilar Amplification Filter Twin dual envelope filter. The new Filter Twin uses two identical filters sweeping in opposite directions, one up and one down, to get its signature 70s-inspired funk and original filtered sounds.

The Filter Twin has an intuitive, easy to use, four-knob layout consisting of Blend, Threshold, and two Velocity controls. The Blend control pans between the filters, allowing you to mix how much of each filter you want to hear, while the Threshold control determines how sensitive the unit is to different playing styles. Meanwhile, the two Velocity controls determine the speed of each filter. The Filter Twin powers on and off via the Engage button.

According to Aguilar, two filters sweeping at the same time gives you a more organic, vocal quality and allows you to get expressive new sounds that you can't get from other pedals.

As for ins and outs, the Filter Twin has a 1/4-inch jack input and a 1/4-inch jack output. Further, the new dual envelope filter is powered by a 9V battery or optional universal power supply and also features true bypass. The Filter Twin is made of a durable, heavy-duty steel and comes with a three-year limited warranty.

Aguilar Amplification Filter Twin features at a glance:

  • Separate Velocity controls for each filter
