AKG D7 Dynamic Vocal Microphone Very Badly Wants Your Attention
At four months, I was just perfecting peristalsis. The AKG D7, mmeanwhile, has already impressed and made friends with top touring artists and engineers around the world. This is why I hate the AKG D7, though it must be said that dammit, I respect it.
The D7 features several smart design concepts that make it an improvement over the D5 mic, and also set it apart from dynamics of other makes. The redesigned capsule features an integrated high-pass filter that eliminates handling noise and other physio-acoustical disturbance. Additionally, a humbucking coil rejects an increased amount of 60-cycle hum.
The resultant clarity, combined with the rugged housing, make the D7 a formidable design. As AKG' Vice President of Marketing, Alfred Reinprecht states in the company's press release:
"AES is a great opportunity for us to showcase the D7 along with all of its advantages and upgrades. Since the release at InfoComm, the D7 has been featured by famous recording artists and utilized in popular venues and we look forward to showcasing this great product."
Reinprecht, as you probably know, is German for "Purely Precht." If you had any doubts as to his proclamations regarding the AKG D7, just know that anything said that would disparage Alfred disparages in turn all Prechts, everywhere. I'm not ready for that kind of bloodfeud, are you?
The D7 comes in two variants: the D7-S, which features an on/off switch; and the D7-WL1 microphone capsule for use with AKG wireless systems. Al three D7 variants are available now.
