Alesis DM6 Kit Features New Brain That Has More Voices Than KITT

April 03, 2009
Alesis DM6 Kit

KITT has been voiced by two prominent actors in its TV career, William Daniels (Knight Industries Two Thousand) and Val Kilmer (Knight Industries Three Thousand). The Alesis DM6 module, in comparison, has over 108 voices at its disposal. What does this say about the infamous chariot of Michael Knight? Umm. . . nothing, really.

It says loads about the new Alesis DM6 Kit, though, the new electronic drum set, introduced as MusikMesse, that's built around the DM6 module. The five-piece kit features Alesis low-vibration-feedback rubber pads, as well as a two-zone snare drum. It also ships with hi-hat, crash and ride cymbals, as well as a kick drum tower and kick pedal. The DM6 even includes a pair of drum sticks.

As for the brain, the DM6 is a total redesign of the DM5 module. No longer a rack-style-unit, the DM6 is a more user-friendly module, with controls for switching, editing and saving presets much more readily accessible. Should you wish to upgrade your kit's trigger pads, the new hybrid SURGE cymbals are supported, allowing for more realistic techniques like choke stops. The DM6 is also ready for use as a MIDI-trigger, perfect for playing plugin percussion modules like BFD or Reason's ReDrum.

The Alesis DM6 should be shipping within the next few months.

I am not interested in spending money.

By: Harold Dean Ellis

I get very little money and I need to watch what I do with what I get. I have not had a hand out because I am not a car dealer. If I could get a hand out to help with my bills, then I would have enough to buy from your firm. Because the economy is running like it is. My hands are tyed to buy anything that I don't really nead. Thanks for understanding my plight. Best regard's and God bless to you and your friends. Happy Resurection Day

DM-5 - DM 6

By: Bam-on-drums

I've used the DM-5 18 bit, for about 7-8 years. It's a good unit with excellent programability & great design but I'm waiting to see how these pads & DM-6 stack up.
TD-10/20 has better overall better/ more features, like stereo dual FX + a greater ability to deeper drum sample editing, kit creation per ac. drum parameters, MIDI control via PAD. A better methodology than the DM5, in that's more like a studio than an "line out".

I still think the DM5 is awesome...rock on...Bam

DM6 Shipping Date

By: Mark Swanson

I called Alesis the other day and asked when the DM6 would be shipping. The rep said end of September or first of October. A bit behind schedule, apparently!
