JASON DONNELLY: Jason Donnelly, Gearwire.Com, and we're looking at the MultiMix 8 USB mixer by Alesis. Eight inputs, interfaces with your PC via USB, 16-bit sound interface, built-in DSP, phantom power, high-mid-low EQ, two auxiliary sends and receive, pre and post. We have the built-in DSP which is routed to your aux B that's your wet-dry mix for your effects, and pretty much an overall compact little mixer. I can see bands using this live to record a live performance or maybe bringing it to their rehearsal to record and multitrack rehearsals, or this would work great in a project DAW or a small home studio, small project studio. Very cool little device, very compact, and nicely made. The color is interesting as well; in some lights it looks blue and in some lights it looks silver.

Let's take a look at some of the DSP effects on this little guy.

[JASON PLAYS A TRACK]

Push the selection button in to activate the effect or select the effect. Turn the dial here to select the number of the effect. And, as what I said before, aux B is your wet-dry. So here we have a reverb. We have from 0 to 9 hall reverbs, 10 to 19 rooom, 20 to 29 plate, 30 to 39 chamber, 40 to 49 we're in the chorus, 50 to 59 flange, 60 to 69 delay, 70 to 79 pitch, 80 to 89 multi, and 90 to 99 multi 2.

Pretty decent sounding reverb here. Let's get to 20; wait, it's a plate reverb. Let's get to the 30: chamber. Let's get to 40, there's some chorus effect. Let's go to 50 for flanger, 60 for delays, 70 for pitch. Now we're into our multis; should be combinations of effects.

So there you have it, this little taste of the MultiMix 8 effects bank. This is Jason Donnelly with Gearwire.Com. Thanks for watching.
