Alesis TransActive Live Allows Musicians To Perform Amplified At Any Time And Any Location

Alesis TransActive Live

Certain locations are just not right for setting up musical equipment due to bad logistics, examples of which are the limited availability or the lack of a power outlet. In such cases, the performer on-the-go and on-call has environmentally imposed limitations. Freeing performers from this limitation is the Alesis TransActive Live.

TransActive Live is a battery-powered portable PA system. It is in the form of a single cabinet that musicians can carry with a single hand. Input options include a combination XLR-1/4” for a microphone or instrument, additional 1/4" input for a guitar and/or a line-level instrument, and RCA inputs for drum machines, samplers, and other line-level audio equipment. It also has its own iPod dock that musicians can use to play backing tracks or interlude music with.

The built-in rechargeable battery of the TransActive Live provides up to 12 hours of cordless amplification. Virtually limitless operation is possible if it is hooked up to an external power outlet via wall power. A built-in amplifier is found in the TransActive Live for high efficiency and all in one performance. With all of its features, the TransActive Live is perfect for the musician who goes to remote gigs or street performances that do not require a complicated audio setup. Retail price for the Alesis TransActive is at 399.00 USD with the estimated street price right around 199.00 USD.

What is virtuality in this context?

By: Jacques Verhaeghe

You say "Virtually limitless operation is possible".
Why "virtually"? Do you mean that operation on an external power outlet is limited in some way?

I own 2 transactive live, and never got a power problem with them.

However, the iPod connector is light duty and is, to my opinion, the real (not virtual) weak point of their design.
