Audio-Technica ATM350 And Alfred Arnold Bandoneon Work Hard for the Hardworking Bajofondo

April 06, 2009
Alfred Arnold Bandoneon Bajofondo

Eight musicians from Argentina and Uruguay make up the Latin American band Bajofondo. They have been called, variously, Electrotango, Tango Fusion and Latin Alternative. Regardless, they're energetic and really fun to dance to. Along with the violin, electric guitar, upright bass, electric keyboard and trip-hoppy vocals, there's Martín Ferrés with his Alfred Arnold Bandoneon.

The best bandoneons were built close to a hundred years ago, and according to Martín, more recent construction attempts don't hold a candle to them. For him, Alfred Arnold is the only way to go, and to help compete with the more electric elements of Bajofondo, he reinforces his instrument with a pair of Audio-Technica ATM350 drum mics.
