Allen & Heath GS-R24 Studio Recording Mixer Intro'd
Armed with 24 channels, Allen & Heath has announced the GS-R24 studio recording mixer, which combines analog control and functionality with a choice of analog or Firewire / ADAT interface modules and MIDI control for your chosen digital audio workstation (DAW) or recording device.
According to Allen & Heath, the GS-R24 was designed to sit at the heart of the studio and features the flexibility and quality to enhance the impact of your recordings, whatever your workflow. Two versions are available: the GSR-24 with non-motorized faders, and the GSR-24M with motorized faders.
What's onboard? The GS-R24 has 24 mic / line input preamps, 24 channels of 4-band EQ, your choice of analog or Firewire / ADAT interface modules, 2 dual stereo inputs with EQ, 2 valve inputs, 6 auxes, 4 subgroups, main Stereo and Mono bus, MIDI control, 5.1 surround monitoring, and much more.
Allen & Heath designer Mike Griffin notes that the original concept for the GSR-24 was for a larger version of the ZED-R16 with similar routing, high quality preamps, and EQ. After hanging out with recording musicians and engineers, however, he and the company decided to add many new features to the original idea, such as the full width meter bridge, optional interface cards, and added flexibility in workflow setup. Overall, the GSR-24 offers analog design, flexible usability, control and integration with DAWs, and a removable interface card.
