Ampeg B116T At The Top Of Alex Rodriguez's Wishlist
Alex Rodriguez plays bass with Mikey Peterson and the Trust, and his current live rig is an Orange Crush 35 combo. It's a decent amp, but lately Alex's thoughts have been fixating on a new crush: the Ampeg B115T. In this clip, he composes a love note to his possible future stage partner: "Roses are red, violets are blue; I'd rather be rockin' the root notes with you."
Don't tell his his current amp about this video, alright? It'd be crushed.
[ALEX RODRIGUEZ PERFORMING]
ALEX RODRIGUEZ: My name is Alex Rodriguez. I'm playing with Mikey Peterson and the Trust. I'm playing an Orange Crush 35B,which is a 35-Watt bass amp, and I'm going to pick up one of those Ampeg combo amps, one of the 1 X 15's with a - it's got a tube preamp and then a solid state power amp, and I'm pretty excited about that. It's actually the BA115T; that's the model number. I can get a little better tone on that Ampeg that I'm looking at so I'm pretty excited about that.
INTERVIEWER: But it's still not huge.
ALEX RODRIGUEZ: It's not huge but it's about double the weight of the Orange Crush, so I'm going from a 30 --
INTERVIEWER: So, it's got tubes?/p>
ALEX RODRIGUEZ: Yeah it does. So I've got -- I'm going from a 30-pound bass amp to a 60-pound bass amp. It's still going to be manageable, and it's going to behave, but if I need to turn it up, I can, so it's got nice options, and I was having a little trouble competing with Mikey's 100-Watt Fender amp, so I figured it was time since we're playing out since, you know, it's getting a little more serious, we should have a little more serious gear.
