AnalogMan ARDX20 Is More Powerful Than Tequila

AnalogMan ARDX20 New York Amp Show 2009

Last year at the NY Amp Show, I popped by the AnalogMan booth and Mike randomly offered me a much-needed margarita. The margarita was great as were the pedals. At this year’s NY Amp Show, I popped by the Analog Man booth again looking to see what was new and also hoping to secretly snag a free margarita.

When I got there, Mike showed me his latest creation; a delay unit entitled the AnalogMan ARDX20. A few years ago Mike introduced the AnalogMan ARD20DL, which was an analog delay that sounded great at a reasonable price. The pedal would sell out in a matter of minutes every time a new batch was posted. It became a cult classic for the pedal geek set but has since been discontinued.

The new ARDX20 ($265) takes the concept of the ARD20DL further, adding two delays in one unit. The pedal is hand soldered, has two sets of controls (delay time, feedback, and delay level), an effects loop, and offers external options for tap tempo. The ARDX20 also has a moving light that gives a visual indication of the delay speed.

The thing also just simply looks cool. I was so blown away I forgot all about that margarita.

The pedal sounds great.

I hope the cameraman for this clip realizes that this was nauseating to watch. Stay away from the zoom!
