May 11, 2007
API in Vienna
API has been doing their thing for quite some time. Their consoles have been responsible for the sound of many records we all have heard. These days, as with many similar companies, they have gotten deep into creating gear for the home studio. This means rack gear. Among their many offerings, their lunchbox models perform quite well in the market. Here they show us the availble mic pres, eq's, and compressors live from the 122nd AES in Vienna, Austria.

SPEAKER: You know what, we're API. We're the company that's all about tone. We've been building the same equipment since the late 60s through the 70s. Some people call API the LA sound. We build different packages and modules. We build the 500 series, which is very popular. We build 19" rack-mount equipment. Over on the other rack, the 3124 is a four-channel discrete mic amp. All the packages are built using the same circuitry, the same components, transformers, the famous 2520 Op Amp, right from the modules, from the mic pres, and the EQs through the console product line. The warranty on the products is five years unconditional on all parts. We build them great. We build great quality equipment and it lasts.

Probably the most popular product line we do is the 500 Series. There are two racks at 10Space, 500V. There is a 6B lunch box which is a six-base portable rack. The modules of the 512C mic pre, the 550A equalizer, the 550B equalizer, the 560 equalizer, and a classic 525 compressor.
