(Very little) lost in translation: Apogee's Rosetta AD/DA converters

June 26, 2006
Apogee Rosetta Series
119th AES 2005: Apogee Electronics shows Gearwire viewers the Rosetta 200 and Rosetta 800. Both are rack-mounted, 24 bit, 192kHz AD/DA converters, with the 200 providing two audio channels and the 800 providing -- you guessed it -- eight. As Apogee explains, the current Rosetta Series represents an evolution from the popular Rosetta AD released at the start of the decade.

SPEAKER: The Rosetta AD was a converter that we introduced about five years ago, which was our first foray into what we might call the home studio market or the semiprofessional market. It was very popular so we've continued the lineage with the Rosetta 200 and the Rosetta 800.

The Rosetta 800 is an eight-channel A to D, eight-channel D to A. Rosetta 200, obviously just two channels. Once again, both devices do allow for universal interface ability with X-FireWire cards, XHD cards, and pretty much all the standard digital interfaces.

In this particular example, we have the Rosetta 200 interfaced to Logic using Apple's Core Audio driver. And, one, we just go to the Mini Series and we're going to be basically done.
