The floor tuner is a relatively recent invention in comparison to some of the more traditional instruments that Juan Dies and his fellow musicians in Sones de Mexico play. That's why Juan recommends the Cleartune application for the iPhone. Though this is a new addition to the traditional folk music they play, Juan and the rest of the ensemble need to keep in tune somehow, and with nothing to plug into, Cleartune is the way to go.
