Drummer, composer, and producer extraordinaire Omar Hakim was enjoying the lush audio of the Adam Monitors presentations at their AES booth, so we totally barged in on his repose and were all like "hey, be on camera!" Lucky for us, Mr. Hakim was more than happy to oblige.  

Still on the phone with Steve Vai, Owen O'Malley turns the conversation toward mastery over one's craft. Audio production yeah, but did you know Steve Vai also works on the video end of his projects? Final Cut Pro should check this out for endorsements.  

With the multitudes of DAWs, audio editors, scorewriters, software instruments, etc. crammed up in your Mac, it's no wonder your Mac and your productivity is slowing down. You can now simplify your workflow with Apple Logic Pro 9 which is bound to replace all of your previously installed music and audio applications.

As lead singer NOX confides, Lust Murder Box uses a lot of MIDI in their songs, from first germination to final product, so it makes sense that they favor Logic Pro 7 as their DAW-of-choice in their band's studio.  

I've always wanted to sneak into a movie theater / airplane / the NBA by standing on someone's shoulders and wearing a large overcoat. Stewart Cochran of 54 Seconds had an equivalent idea for his Clavia Nord Electro 73 and a chunk of his stage gear.

You know those innocuous-seeming auto-updates from Apple, the ones that only affect the third number in the OS version tag? You might want to think twice before automatically saying yes to whatever almighty Jobs suggests. The latest release apparently includes a feature that makes your audio no-workie.  

While we didn't have any problems using the PreSonus FaderPort with Logic 8 for our demo video a while back, PreSonus has only just announced that their full native Logic driver is available. I guess Bill's just that good.  

Ryan Maeker is a sound designer in NYC, and though he may come off as a somewhat threatening figure in this interview -- all talking about cuttin' fools, hitting people with cars and even threatening the life of yours truly -- he's actually a total teddy bear with a soft spot for Speilberg movies!  

Nowadays, more and more musicians are web-savvy, and at the very least know how to post photos on their MySpace accounts. Adding to that cache of basic knowledge, Gearwire decided to take a look at some simple ways to make your iTunes selections more publicly visible.

Mark Mothersbaugh wanted to use MOTU's Digital Performer for its similar appearance to Opcode's Studio Vision, but DP never quite panned out for Mothersbaugh, who was reasoned into using Apple Logic by some of Mutato's young guns who knew it inside and out.  

You may remember Mr. Bonzai from our AES coverage, and then again, you may not even remember what you ate for dinner last night. Either way, Bonzai is back, and we paid him a visit in Los Angeles where he got us into Mutato Muzika -- Mark Mothersbaugh's studio.  

On the 5th day, Jobs said, "make it even thinner and lighter, guys." And so it was. And it was. . . I don't know why a computer needs to be this thin, other than to prove that computers CAN be this thin.  

Apple unveils details about its new Mac Pro even prior to [hey, it could happen] Macworld. It's twice as fast as any previous version of the Mac Pro. It must be on steroids. I want that computer indicted.
