Apple OSX 10.5.2 Auto-Update: Look At It As A Chance To Test Out The Time-Machine Function!
WARNING!
Seems like accepting the auto-update to OSX 10.5.2 can result in the total collapse of your computer's audio infrastructure. The problem is so bad, Native Instruments has released a general warning for users not only of their own products, but of any audio products whatsoever, about performance and compatibility issues arising from the version release:
"User feedback and internal testing indicates that recent changes introduced by Apple in Mac OS X 10.5.2 can cause audio dropouts and similar problems on Macbook / Macbook Pro computers. This issue is not limited to NI software in particular, but applies to performance-critical music software in general.
Therefore, Native Instruments currently cannot guarantee the proper operation of its products under Mac OS X 10.5.2. If possible, users should refrain from upgrading beyond Mac OS X 10.5.1 until further information about this issue becomes available."
For a long, sad and alarming narrative about these audio issues, and hopefully some sort of resolution from Apple, we suggest checking out the support forums on the Apple.com website. Issues seems to be as wide ranging as USB interfaces no longer being recognized to audio playback within iTunes. We'll be keeping our eyes out for a fix / patch; in the meantime, you might want to avoid the update or, if you've already updated, try rolling back to 10.5.1

10.5.2
I know there was people not waiting long enough for the update to complete, but I personally never had any problems with 10.5.2 G5dual 2g UAD1's on logic pro setup. Beside, you don't want to use a USB interface in a studio, believe me, I tried it. I know that some of NI stuff is borderline on mac in reliability department, I have some myself. But simply stating that 10.5.2 breaks the audio engine is not true.
