Astatic 1600VP

It is a common situation that you encounter microphones that have a singular pickup pattern either cardiod, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, etc. Most of the time you tend to use a bunch of microphones depending on what you are mic'ing or, worse, you either end up having to fix your mic'ing constantly as you only have a cardiod mic, or you try your best to control signals behind your console because of your omnidirectional mics. You can save all that clutter and trouble by having a variable pattern microphone such as Astatic 1600VP.

The 1600VP is a continuously-variable pattern hanging condenser microphone system that boasts of a remote polar control and anti-rotational positioning mount. At the very least, these features save you the effort of adjusting the microphone yourself due to the variable pattern being adjusted remotely, as well as having to encounter a swinging boom that gets your mic out of place. The variable polar pattern with remote control allows you to adjust the shape of the pickup pattern at a distance making you essentially hands off the stage. With a two-conductor shielded cable (2000' maximum) between the microphone head and the pattern control box

, realtime adjustment of the polar pattern is possible without the bother of changing capsules, microphone positions, or inducing noise.

A frequency response is at 40 Hz to 20 kHz as well as a selectable recessed 80Hz, 12dB/octave high-pass filter are featured as well in the 1600VP. The filter control can also be access via the remote box. The 1600VP is also designed to resist interference such that from cellular phones, two-way communication devices, and others thanks to the RF Resistant Architecture that meets stringent European Union RF standards. The microphone is made out of commercial-grade aluminum, the control box has been made with hardened steel, and both have been painted matte black for that unobtrusive yet stylish appearance.

Designed for applications such as choral, instrumental, and ambient mic'ing as well as vocal pickup for government, institutional and business applications, the Astatic 1600VP shortens your list of must-haves for your installed sound applications. This unit comes complete with 30' (9.1m) of two-conductor shielded cable terminated with a TA3F type connector and XLRM-type connector, a 3-pin XLRF connector on a stainless steel duplex wall plate, exclusive articulating steel hanger, and anti-twist thread and rods. The Astatic 1600VP is priced at $800.00 MSRP.
