Audio-Technica SpectraPulse Mtu301 Body-Pack Transmitter Introduced
With the Audio-Technica SpectraPulse mtu301 Body-Pack Transmitter, you can transmit audio and walk around freely, wirelessly throughout your SpectraPulse coverage area. Ideal for fixed installation, rental staging, and corporate / boardroom applications, SpectraPulse offers secure wireless operation free from RF competition, frequency coordination, and "white space" issues.
The new SpectraPulse mtu301 body-pack transmitter makes it easy to move throughout the entire SpectraPulse coverage area. By plugging in a lavalier or headworn microphone to the mtu301, you can perform wirelessly onstage, leave a podium or walk away from a conference table, do cartwheels across the boardroom, and whatever else suits your fancy.
The SpectraPulse mtu301 joins the SpectraPulse mtu101 Microphone Transmitter Unit (in a boundary mic design) and the mtu201 XLR Desk Stand Transmitter (paired with gooseneck mics) in Audio-Technica’s SpectraPulse Ultra Wideband (UWB) wireless microphone system, offering more options for presenters and performers. According to the manufacturer, the SpectraPulse mtu301, like the other SpectraPulse components, is immune to 700 MHz and spectrum-crowding issues. The SpectraPulse mtu301 is optimized to work with Audio-Technica lavalier and headworn microphones pre-terminated with a compatible input connector. Furthermore, the unit provides bias voltage for electret condenser microphones.
Included with the SpectraPulse mtu301 is an on / off switch, a mute switch, and LEDs indicating power / mute status, link status, and a low-battery warning. The unit operates on standard Alkaline or NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable AA batteries, and a charger (model chg001; available separately) allows NiMH batteries to recharge within the unit. All in all, the SpectraPulse mtu301 offers approximately nine hours of battery life.
What is SpectraPulse, exactly? Audio-Technica describes it as the first commercial sound implementation of Ultra Wideband technology; the SpectraPulse Ultra Wideband wireless microphone system bypasses the congested RF bottleneck to deliver clear, intelligible audio without the performance and set-up issues associated with conventional wireless systems. Designed for conferences, courtrooms, corporate events and more, SpectraPulse offers 14 simultaneous channels that operate without RF turf wars, frequency hunting / coordination, "white space" issues, or interference. SpectraPulse is part of Audio-Technica’s Engineered Sound line of contractor-exclusive products for the installed-sound market.
Audio-Technica's new SpectraPulse mtu301 ($1,450 MSRP) and chg001 charger ($112 MSRP) will be available sometime during the first quarter of 2011. For more information about SpectraPulse, please visit audio-technica.com.
