Audio Ease Zappa Recording Studio: UMRK For Altiverb: Free Impulse Responses
What's the fastest way to get a response to impulse responses? Drop the name Zappa, of course. Audio Ease has done just that in releasing its new set of free impulse responses for Altiverb, Zappa Recording Studio: UMRK.
To make this Altiverb set, two Audio Ease engineers visited Frank Zappa’s studio, also known as the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen, and with the help of Dweezil Zappa, recorded the acoustics of both the tracking room and the famous Zappa echo chamber (shown below). The microphones and speaker in the echo chamber were set up in the way that Zappa Sr. had left them.
The progeny of their work is now available for free for use in the Audio Ease Altiverb convolution reverb plugin. You may download the impulse responses directly from the Audio Ease Web site.

The echo chamber is not dead, it just smells funny! Anyways, how cool that someone conceptualized this, and that Dweezil was game. Awesome!
