At Winter NAMM 2010, Audio-Technica announced that it has updated its Artist Elite 4000 Series and 5000 Series (shown below) True Diversity UHF Wireless Systems. The suffix "a" at the end of each model number denotes the update.

The Artist Elite systems now sport a new backlit LCD on transmitters; a locking battery door on UniPak body-pack transmitters; a two-color (green and red) power / mute LED to indicate on / mute status; new 25 kHz spacing, providing up to 996 selectable frequencies; and version 3.0 AEW Control Interface Software, which now works with all major operating systems. A five-year warranty is also included.
