AudioTouch MTmini

Seth Sandler, USC San Diego undergrad and DIY handyman extraordinaire, has caught the Multi-Touch Table-Top Musical Interface DIY fever. As a major in USCSD's niche-sounding Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts program, Seth has been developing a project he calls the AudioTouch.

His webspace at wordpress.com documents his progress with the AudioTouch, offers downloads of the OS he's using for the interface, and even features a video showing how to create your own table-top interface for use with the software he's developed. The building materials required for such a sophisticated, cutting edge piece of computer music hardware include such mundane objects as computer paper and a cardboard box:

The OS and software Seth has developed for use with the AudioTouch Table includes a basic keyboard program, a random note generator called MusicCubes, a loop-player called Audioshape Sequencer, and finally, something called musical MusicalWong, which had us worried for a second before we realized it's basically just Pong.
