Audix FP5 Fusion Drum Pack Packs In Five Mics

November 10, 2009
Audix FP5 Fusion Drum Pack includes a complete set of Audix dynamic microphones.

Designed for miking a five-piece kit for both live and studio applications, the Audix FP5 Fusion Drum Pack ($559 MSRP) offers up a complete set of Audix dynamic microphones: the F5 for snare, three F2s for rack / floor toms and congas, and the F6 for kick drum. The entire system is packaged in a heavy duty, aluminum carrying case.

The F5, with its hypercardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control, is equipped with a LM Type A (Low Mass) diaphragm for natural sound reproduction, and a frequency response of 55 Hz – 15 kHz. This heavy-duty mic (along with the F2 and F6) has a cast zinc alloy body, steel mesh grill, black coat finish, laser etched model number, gold XLR connector, and an included nylon mic clip.

Similarly, the F2 also features a hypercardioid pickup pattern and LM Type A (Low Mass) diaphragm. This mic, however, is lightweight and compact, in comparison to the F5. The F2 has a wide frequency response of 52 Hz - 15 kHz and handles sound pressure levels of 139 dB.

Ideal for recording kick drum, cajon, djembe and bass cabs, the F6 features the same hypercardioid pickup pattern and LM Type A (Low Mass) diaphragm, along with a frequency response of 40 Hz - 16 kHz and SPL handling of 140 dB. According to Audix, the F6 is ideal for miking instruments requiring extended low-frequency reproduction.

The FP5 Fusion Drum Pack offers a variety of add-on options, including the D-VICE rim mounting system ($29.95), the CBL-DR25 25-foot right angle XLR-XLR mic cable ($29.95), the D-FLEX butterfly mounting clip ($19.95), the D-CLAMP clip for lug nut mounting ($29.95), and the STAND-KD pedestal mic stand for use with bass drum and guitar cabs ($44.95).
