Audix M1280 And Audix M1250 Micro Series At AES
Audix had some very tiny microphones on display at AES - the Micro Series consisting of the M1250 and the M1280. These bite-sized microphones are great for numerous musical and spoken applications, and pack quite a punch for such tiny mics.
All of the electronics are housed in the capsule - the preamp topology has been shrunken - differentiating Audix from its competitors. Despite the size, the Micro series even has a true balanced out.
JAIME ENDICK: Hi. I'm Jaime Endick here with Gearwire.Com at the AES Convention talking with Phil Garfinkle about the Audix products, and we've got the Micro Series he's going to talk about. Tell us a little about it.
PHIL GARFINKLE: Sure. Thanks, Jaime. Hey everybody, welcome to the Audix booth for AES 2007. We have two microphones in our Micro Series. As you can see they're very small. What's different about these microphones compared to other microphones of this size made by our esteemed competitors is all of the electronics are housed inside this capsule. Using surface mount technology, we've shrunk down the topology of the preamps of our SCX series into the Micro Series.
This microphone has a frequency response of 80 cycles to 20,000. This microphone is flat down to 40 cycles to 20,000. They have applications for speech, presentation, music, overhead mic'ing, acoustic instruments, choirs. We have a 50" boom that we use for churches, for theatrical presentations. It's true balanced out. You can run up to 150 feet of cable out of this microphone.
Again, you can see they're very small, they fit into tight spaces quite easily, and with a black little reflection matte finish. They're machined out of solid brass at our factory in Portland, Oregon.
JAIME ENDICK: And you have a few other things you'd like to show us?
PHIL GARFINKLE: Well, I just want to say that these capsules, you have cardiod, hypercardiod, omni, or supercardiod shotgun capsules available. You can find out more about our products at www.audixusa.com. Hey, thanks for stopping by our booth, Jaime.
JAIME ENDICK: Thank you so much, Phil.
PHIL GARFINKLE: My pleasure.
