Audix MicroBoom 50 And 84: Ultra-Lightweight Mic'ing Solutions Make A Resounding Chorus Even Louder
Thanks to carbon fiber, ultra-lightweight and durable mounting solutions such as microphone stands and others now exist. An example of a line of products that use this material are boom systems for the Audix Micros called the MicroBoom. Expanding this line further are the Audix MicroBoom 50 and 84.
The MicroBoom 50 features a 50" boom arm and the MicroBoom 84's boom arm is 84". Both bear a specifically designed clutch assembly that allows them to be utilized with standard 5/8" mic stands. The stand adapter gives total control over the carbon fiber rod's angle, rotation, and position. A knurled knob locks the rod firmly in place, and a flexible metal gooseneck just below the microphone determine the overall final position and angle of the microphone. To deliver the most pristine signal path possible, these MicroBooms are internally wired with high-quality shielded cable between the microphone and the end of the boom which terminates into a mini-XLR connector.
An external power adapter for the microphones is no longer necessary with the MicroBoom thanks to its innovative design that gives it a very clean and elegant look on either stage or camera. Applications for this system include mic'ing for choirs, stage plays, and presentations, and the Audix MicroBoom 50 and 84 can be used with any microphone in the Audix Micro series.
