Audix USB12: 'Cause, Hey, Why Not?

October 04, 2008
Audix USB12 125th AES

While investment banking firm UBS may be hitting some rocky shoals, the USB mic market has never been stronger! It's the perfect financial climate for a reputable company like Audix to introduce their first USB mic, and that's just what they've done with the new USB12 gooseneck condenser.

Audix was founded in 1984. Can you spot the other item in this video from 1984? If you guessed the product specialist's hair, you'd be wrong. Those feathered bangs are 1978 at the absolute latest.

SPEAKER: This is the Audix USB12. We've ventured into the world of the USB microphone. It took us a while to jump in there. It took us a while to find something that had the quality that we were looking for for the USB microphone. Many applications, as many of you all know. Skype phones are one thing. Gaming is another. One of the things we found that's actually turned out pretty well is laptop computers are very prevalent these days, and recording, getting your ideas down on a laptop microphone, you're not going to necessarily going to want an interface to plug a condenser microphone like a dynamic microphone into. Every computer has a USB port now. Let's plug it in straight with the USB. Gone are the days where you have to worry about the noise floor. Gone are the days where you have to worry about the fidelity of the microphone. You can just play and sing straight into this thing, record onto GarageBand, Audacity. Simple setup, anywhere you are, when the moment hits you, put your ideas down. Bus powered.
