Avant Electronics Avantone Active MixCubes: Updated With Cube Shape and New Power Rating
In addition to having a real cube shape this time, the latest version of Avant Electronics Avantone Active MixCubes have a new power rating and expanded headroom. The original mini reference monitors had an elongated shape that wasn't true to the product's cube name.
Each MixCube incorporates a Class A / B amplifier module with very low noise and distortion (.005% THD @ 1 kHz). Rated at 60W RMS per cube, the MixCubes, along with the new power supply, generate rock-solid operating headroom. On the rear panel of each cube is a detented System Gain knob with a pin 1 audio Ground Lift Switch, an illuminated On / Off Switch, combo-style ¼-inch / XLR input jack, and an aluminum heat sink with smooth rounded edges for accident-proof operation.
Let's look at the technical specs: The amp module frequency response is 22 Hz-50 KHz (+0 dB / -3 dB) / (90 Hz-50 kHz ± 0 dB). The usable system response is from 90 Hz-17 kHz with a S / N of -113 dB. Maximum SPL is 104 dB 1 meter @ 1% THD (pink noise).
A 5-year limited warranty is included with every purchase. You can get a pair of Active MixCubes for $459, or a single Mono-Blok for $239. For more detailed information, visit the company's Web site.
