BagAmp: A Speaker You Can Totally Bag!
PA systems and portability doesn't necessarily go hand in hand. There are more than a few instances in my life that I have seen to be what was touted to be portable PA systems, only to discover the cold hard truth that although they have collapsible stands, handles, wheels, etc., hand-carrying one of these was no option at all. Portable? Yeah, right -- if you have an SUV, that is. Surprisingly, today's summer gives way to new things beside the recession and loads of discount deals. Collins America will be introducing at Summer NAMM 2009 the BagAmp Portable Amplifier System.
While you might say that a portable PA system could possibly work out somewhat, allow me to tell you first that BagAmp consists of a vertical line array of EIGHT speakers. Now you might say this is just a load of bull; you could never be more wrong as BagAmp makes use of advanced composite materials (ABS plus polycarbonate composite resin) to drastically reduce the weight as well as make use of 3" Audio Piston loudspeakers. Add to that a highly efficient power amplifier and a digital power supply as well as two hybrid XLR-1/4" input ports, you now have the complete PA system weighing approximately 25 pounds.
