Beamz Music Performance System: Want To Play Music? Got Arms? You're All Set?

April 09, 2008
beamz music performance system

Hands down, the beamz Music Performance System is the most ridiculous thing ever. Using laser-based innovation, the musically untalented can now use lasers to perform music and look awesome in the process.

The beamz Music Performance System (in beamz's own words) "fuses the interaction of your hands with laser lights," making it sound like you're actually doing something other than flailing about in a plane of harmless lasers that beam across three towers.

The beamz system also connects to your computer via USB, and a user interface helps select between 30 songs in 19 genres including jazz, bluegrass, classical, hip-hop, reggae, heavy metal, jazz (again), blues, hard rock, Latin, country and more. The software interface allows you to make your own rhythm tracks.

When you break the beams with your hands, the beamz system generates prerecorded pulses, streams, riffs and loops from numerous instruments. Even cowbell! LOL!

See it for yourself, courtesy of YouTube.

I don't know whether I'm tickled more by the tropical tandem rhythms of "Jam Session" or solemn emotion of "Quiet Reverie."

this is for

By: ghasse

people whose only talent is making money. Not a bad talent, for sure; but we like to make fun of those people, or at least I do. Go buy it at The Sharper Image, Yuppie Punks...

hey!

Technically I'm a yuppie (see young urban professional) and I hang out at punk bars. So, am I a yuppie punk?

You don't count

By: ghasse

because you have talents other than making money. So now I am going to stop being bitter. For now.

awesome!

Why are you such haters? You purists can smirk. The rest of us are going to be having so much crazy fun while you are griping and being misereable.! LOL!
Hey... with this can I finally play the Macarena!?

Thu, 2008-04-10 12:52

macarena? perhaps in the future

By: bholland

That's one of the limits of this thing. There's no clear way I can see to add new songs to your repertoire. What would make this sweet would be if it actually worked with midi files. Then, I could load up some Maiden and rock out.

Birth of new mega hit

By: Wall Street Yuppie

If you guys are unable to see the tremendous mass market potential of this device you are a bunch of retards and bozos with probably no life to leave other than play your guitar in the basement. I think you hate it because anyone can look cool and you long haired stink-smelling retards will no longer have the exclusivity to a cool image. Anyone can now look cool. Even geeks, even wall street yuppies. So like your mama said you should have gone to school and learnt some education and now with just your guitar playing knowledge you ain't going anywhere. I feel sorry for you putrid punks.

To Bad

By: JR

To bad I cannot use this like a Kaoss Pad, D-Beam, or Theremin. Built in MIDI, maybe a soft synth plugin...that might be interesting. The Pagey thang with a new twist . Hmmm, maybe I just gave away a good idea.
