Beesneez Microphones: Down Under Manufacturer Makes Their Mics From The Ground Up (Video)
Ben Sneesby's been quietly making some of the finest microphone capsules in the world since 2002. Four years ago his home-grown microphones company hit the world market, and since then Beesnees Microphones has been building their own reputation for audio performance and classic sound.
Athe the recent AES show in San Francisco we spoke with Ben about the company's mics and general design philosophy, and also got to take a look at one of their new capsule designs au natural. Off camera Ben told us that his capsules used to take nine hours to build. That was back when he was hand-milling them, but they still take about two hours per on C&C machines. Makes you go hmmmmm, doesn't it?
