Beyerdynamic RM510 Wireless Ribbon Microphone Demonstration From AES 2010 (Video)
November 07, 2010
At the 129th AES show in San Francisco, Beyerdynamic introduced the world's first ribbon capsule intended for use in a wireless, live, handheld microphone. The resulting Beyerdynamic M510 looks like one of the company's traditional studio ribbons, complete with spherical mesh basket, and is designed for compatibility with Opus wireless systems.
So now you're likely asking yourself one of two questions: how does it sound, and how could they possibly build a ribbon element that's up for the abuses of live performance? Both answers are provided herein, as we captured audio from the Beyerdynamic RM510 live from the show floor.
