As the second volume in Big Fish Audio's Cinematic Sound Design series, Darkness: Cinematic Sound Design is a 2.8 GB collection of original loops and samples created for use in film, TV, games, and the more dystopian forms of metal, hip-hop, grunge, and more.

According to the maker of the library, all sounds in this project were created from “real” sources, meaning that no synthesizers were used on any of the included material. The drones, rhythmic loops, soundscapes, and effects were derived from recordings of the likes of metal bridges, cables, dumpsters, and machines, as well as metal-stringed instruments such as waterphones, detuned autoharps, and one very old and beat up piano harp. The source recordings were then subjected to a battery of plugins and effects, loaded into samplers, and then played to create the finished loops and atmospheres.

You can use these samples in standard WAV format or you can take advantage of the custom Kontakt interface that comes with Darkness: Cinematic Sound Design. The Kontakt format includes the ability to edit and tweak loops as well as easily add effects to take these samples to the next sonic level.
