Blackbird Guitars Super-OM, Ironically, Offers Very Little Resistance To Sound Projection
. . . oh wait, I'm thinking Ohm. This is OM, like in "Orchestra Model." That makes more sense.
Forgive me for being a little disoriented, you see the Blackbird Super-OM is one gnarly looking acoustic guitar, what with its one-piece carbon-fiber body, hollow neck and asymmetrical sound hole. hundred-year-old-plus terminology like "OM" just doesn't seem applicable to a design as radical as this. Like the "Rider" series guitars before it, the Blackbird Super-OM features some designs that are traditional as far a the Blackbird Guitar company goes: a 3-D sculpted body, super-light construction (only 3.75 lbs), hollow headstock with "stereo" sound port and ultra-light bracing.
Blackbird promises that the Super-OM, while sporting a body the dimensions of which are comparable to a classic OM shape, will produce a sound that's more along the volume and fullness of a larger dreadnought, thanks to the huge relative volume of the resonating chamber. The Super-OM sports 21 frets and an all-access cutaway.
While not necessarily offering a lifetime guarantee, Blackbird does promise a "lifetime of worry-free playing and inspiration." Of course, the inspiration will come mostly in the form of plot ideas for Sci-Fi graphic novels, but beggars can't really be choosers, as they say.
Speaking of beggars, the Blackbird Super-OM will carry an MSRP of $1899 or $2039 with electronics and will be available in March 2009.
