Blackheart Engineering BH100H Hothead Amp is Simply Good
Blackheart Engineering's BH100H Hothead Amp was designed on a cocktail napkin in Germany. The 2-man company then started manufacture in Asia, supervised by the watchful eye of designer Pyotr Belov. As long as the quality is ensured, they reasoned, "hands are hands and parts are parts."
Check out the specs in this video, and stay tuned for some sweet Hothead sounds from Belov himself.
BILL HOLLAND: Welcome back to Gearwire.Com. I'm Bill Holland, and we're live in Anaheim for the Winter 2008 NAMM Session. I'm here with Kevin from Blackheart amps. Thanks for joining me, Kevin.
KEVIN VAN PAMEL: Nice to meet you.
BILL HOLLAND: And tell me a little bit about the amps. I know they have quite the background and history here but tell me about -- you're releasing a new stack it looks like. What's the story?
KEVIN VAN PAMEL: Well, first of all, the most important thing is they were design on a cocktail napkin in Germany, which most people don't know. What they are, a boutique-quality amplifiers that we have made in Asia under the care of Pyotr Belov, who's the head designer, engineer, and you know essentially it's the two of us. We started Blackheart Engineering literally on a cocktail napkin, and the concept was that we could make a great amp anywhere. Materials are materials and hands are hands, and if you stop trying to make an amp as cheap as you possibly can, you can actually make it really good at an affordable price. That's no more complicated than that.
BILL HOLLAND: Awesome. So, what's the new stack you're releasing over here.
KEVIN VAN PAMEL: Well the stack is the Hothead, which is a two-channel all-tube amplifier, runs in class A, class AB, pentode or triode mode so you essentially have four different gain structures to work from, two driven effects loops, three-band EQ per channel, master presence, and volume control. That's it. No more complications.
BILL HOLLAND: Simple as possible, deliver optimum sound. Alright. We'll hear the amp in a little bit but for right now I'm Bill Holland and this has been Gearwire.Com with Blackheart Amps. Thanks for joining me, Kevin.
KEVIN VAN PAMEL: Oh, no problem at all. Thank you so much again.

it was supposed to be out in
it was supposed to be out in may...oh well... got a dual rec now
What the hell tubes?
What kind of tubes does it run on? they keep saying all this shit about it's running class features, I just want to know if the damn thing runs on EL34's and or if it can be changed to EL34's, I'd say the type of powertube is one of the most important pieces of info to give out on an amp.
