Bleep Labs ThingamaKit: For Those Who Hate Silence And Solitude
If you've ever been interested in building your own noise-synth, but are concerned that the completed project just won't be cute enough, your prayers have been answered. Though it may never catch on the way that Tickle Me Elmo did when it was introduced, the ThingamaKit from Bleep Labs is just as adorable and at least three times as potentially annoying.
ThingamaKit is a DIY, light controlled, mono, analog synth. The kit come in two options: with or without a stompbox-style steel housing (if you're feeling crazy, you could actually build this thing into a Tickle Me Elmo for unstoppable consumer appeal). Otherwise, the kit include everything you need to start soldering your new best friend into existence.
The tone-generating oscillators are controlled via two "LEDacles" (an endearingly awkward Portmanteau, if ever there was one) that shine into two photo-receptor cells. The ThingamaKit basically follows the same circuit-design as the Thinagamapoop (*ahem*), meaning square or sine wave output, dual LFO, crazy lofi bit-crushed insanity, as well as other nonsense.
Perhaps this vid will explain it better:
ThingamaKit goes for $65 with, or $55 without the metal housing. Domestic shipping is only $6.

I bought one of these
I'll comment back after I get it and have it all assembled, but I'm sure it's going to shred.
