Now available from Blue Microphones, the Encore 100i rugged instrument microphone is the latest of its type to join the Encore series. This dynamic live microphone captures instrumental sounds and more.

Designed to capture a variety of instruments and reduce off-axis noise, the 100i features a dynamic capsule with a custom diaphragm and coil windings that are matched to a tuned acoustic circuit. In addition, the new mic boasts a custom-built transformer for low noise, along with a highpass filter to reduce stage rumble.

About the mic, Blue's CEO John Maier comments, "With the Encore 100i, we have taken our stage vocal mic technology and tailored it to instrument applications."

The Encore 100i is built around Blue's proprietary studio-grade dynamic capsule, the same technology used in the Encore 100 dynamic vocal microphone; the main difference, however, is that the 100i has a wider and flatter frequency response to capture a variety of instrumental sounds, plus a tighter polar pattern to reduce off-axis noise. The Encore 100i houses a custom-designed diaphragm and coil windings that are matched to a tuned acoustic circuit and a custom-built transformer for low noise and smooth transients. According to Blue, these components provide an accurate and consistent sound even at high volume levels on stage.

Other features include a reinforced guard ring to protect the capsule, a small grille for easy placement in tight spaces, and a heavy-cast zinc barrel and electroplated / hardened paint finish for a strong, scratch resistant shell. Small side vents also help reduce resonance inside the capsule chamber and aid in low-frequency response. The Encore 100i's features are listed again below:
