Blue Sky BMC MKIII Standalone Bass Management Controller Introduced
It's blue skies all the way for monitoring system maker Blue Sky, who has introduced the BMC MKIII ($1,195 MSRP) standalone bass management controller.
Designed to offer full bass management, calibration, and remote volume control, the BMC MKIII controls all monitoring system parameters and professional applications, from surround music to post-production. It offers fully balanced inputs and outputs, along with industry standard bass management circuitry and audio components in a compact, easy-to-use setup.
The BMC MKIII features a redesigned remote with additional indicator LEDs and controls; Input Solo mode for soloing multiple channels at the same time; LFE trim, which provides a fine adjust trim range of +/- 2 dB; a -3 dB “film” surround offset, which drops input level of left / right surround channels; and the ability to turn off bass management for surround channels and limit their response to 80 Hz.
Also present are four presets with factory default settings that can be renamed or customized: Standard Blue Sky LFE +10, Film Surround -3 dB, 6 Channel Volume Control, and Film + Small Surround. The electronics have a signal-to-noise ratio of >120 dB, and a reduced output noise of -100 dB (-90 dB for the SUB out).
For a full multichannel studio monitoring system, you can combine the BMC MKIII with the company's Sky System One, ProDesk, or Big Blue system, or other manufacturers' studio monitors and 5.1 channel monitoring systems. For more details, please visit abluesky.com.
