New to the Blue Sky range of monitors and listening components is the SAT 6.5 EXR ($949 MSRP), a two-way, bi-amplified, 200W, near-field, ported studio monitor.

The SAT 6.5 EXR, which can be used with or without a subwoofer, has two 100W amplifiers, a single 6.5-inch high-excursion hemispherical woofer, and a 1-inch dual concentric diaphragm tweeter with integral wave guide for excellent off-axis response.

The rear panel incorporates two independent balanced input stages with XLR connectors. The main input is for standard 80 Hz bass-managed operation, and it's compatible with the Blue Sky SUB 12, SUB 212, and SUB 15 Universal. In addition, the main input features an 80 Hz highpass network with phase correction filter.

As the manufacturer notes, the second “Extended Range” input is designed to be used for applications where a sub is impractical, or as a second "confidence input" to allow you to quickly compare between bass-managed and extended range modes.

The new SAT 6.5 EXR also includes baffle compensation, individual Driver Protection, HF Level Control, and inserts for a wall or stand mount. It weighs in at 35.5 pounds and measures 14.75" (H) x 10" (W) x 14.13" (D).
