Bob Moog Foundation And The Pepsi Refresh Project: Teach Kids Science Through Electronic Music
Here is your chance to help the Bob Moog Foundation earn a significant amount of money to support its MoogLab educational outreach program. The Foundation has applied for a $250,000 grant to support MoogLab, and it has recently made it to the voting round of this month's Pepsi Refresh Project.
MoogLab brings electronic musical instruments, such as theremins and synthesizers, into schools to ignite children's creativity through the intersection of science and music. Winning the grant is based on popular vote, so if you feel inclined, vote your heart out at the Pepsi Refresh Project site at refresheverything.com/bobmoogfoundation.
The Pepsi Refresh Project gives away $1.3 million per month to fund great ideas that refresh our communities. The MoogLab application specifies that curriculum development will begin in Asheville, North Carolina, and the program will spread to Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Minneapolis, and Detroit within a year's time. In MoogLab, children play electronic instruments and learn the basic physics that makes the instruments work.
The Bob Moog Foundation is calling on all Moog supporters to vote daily, both online and by text, to help it win the grant. There are several ways for supporters to vote:
- Visit the Pepsi Refresh Project online
- Text 104827 to Pepsi (73774)
- Visit the Bob Moog FoundationWeb site
Online voting requires that you login with your Facebook account or sign in directly with Pepsi with your email address and personal information. I just voted and it took a whole 30 seconds to complete the process. In order to receive funding, the Foundation must be one of the Top 2 Pepsi Refresh ideas; as of this writing, its rank is 83.
At the Pepsi Refresh Project site, you can learn more about MoogLab, what the Foundation has already accomplished, and how the Foundation intends to use the grant money, if awarded.
