Bogner Alchemist Brings Occult Science Into Music, Where It Already Was
Despite his humble appearance, J. Irving-Giles is secretly a wizard of awesome proportion. We can tell this from his refined description of the Art of Alchemy, included free of charge in this instructional video. Just please do not expect the Bogner Alchemist to turn your guitar into gold, since then it would be way too heavy, and besides it would sound like crap.

J. IRVING-GILES: Hi. I'm J. Irving-Giles with Gearwire.Com, and I'm here with the Bogner Alchemist 212. It's a two 12" speaker combo amp with six EL6 power tubes in the class AB power section, and five 12AX7's in the preamp, and a lot of people might not know this but back in the day, Alchemists actually tried to mix a bunch of stuff together and create a formula for gold and other such precious metals but from there it keeps the alchemy thing going. It has two channels: The first one is called the Gold channel, and the second one is called the Mercury channel -- don't drink it -- and each channel just has a myriad of features. There are some features that are shared with both channels, so I'm going to go over just the sections first.
The first channel starts out with the gain, standard treble, mid, and boost or bass EQs, just a volume for that channel. It has a full boost switch here for just upping things a little bit if you need that extra oomph or oomph -- I don't know how that's pronounced. It's got a couple of switches too even. One switch operates between clean and crunch. Crunch just gives it a little more bite without giving a full-blown gain like the Mercury channel has. It has a bright switch which really brightens up the tone quite a bit, and a deep switch which works the other way around.
All right. So let's start out with the clean section on the Alchemist. Right now, I have all the switches turned off, I'm keeping the EQs set at 12 o'clock, and this is just clean alone.

And let's try out just the crunch switch on.

All right. So the crunch gives it a little more power there, a little more drive. Let's try the bright switch.

So you can hear that the tone is a lot brighter there, and conversely the deep switch.

All right. So it's a little deeper in tone there. I'll switch it over, get heavy, and try out the Mercury channel.

Bogner Alchemist
I personally own the bogner alchemist it overall has good tones, from bluesy riff, to hard rock licks. This amp is a good amp. i give it five stars!!!!!!!!!!
