Bugera 6260 More Shredding Than A Corporate Sponsored Falsified Document Convention

Bugera 6260 In PANAMA!

When we heard that Behringer was behind their own brand of tube amps under the Bugera name, we just had to hear one. Bugera's Joe Delaney was happy to oblige, showing us the biting clean channel, before moving to more of a Texas clean tone (still biting, but mainly only bites into 72 oz. steaks). The main event on this all tube amp, however, is the rocking crunch channel.

Give it a listen yourself -- care of Uli.

Bugera Failures

By: Jesse (not verified)

Both my 6260 and my buddy's 6262 have failed. Both do not start. In Robby's, a tech found that the soldering was bad in spots and was re-soldered. $60 fix. In mine I'm guessing the same. It happened after transporting, ironically, to get new JJ KT77 tubes put in. I will know in a few days what the issue is, however I'm pretty sure it's a soldering thing as well. But for a $400-500 amp +$50-100 in repairs, you can't go wrong. They're gnarly for how cheap they are.

JOE DELANEY: Hey. Joe Delaney for Bugera Amplifiers. I'm going to run you through one of the models here, the 6260.

Basically, we have a new series of amplifiers. It's a new brand of amplifiers, all tube, all 120-watt. Running through the features, the 6260 ships with 6L6's but all the amps are switchable between 6L6 and EL34. There's a little switch put forward in the back there and bias knob and a test point if you want to check it with a meter.

Okay, running down the line, high-gain and low-gain input, and then we get to the clean channel. Right here we got two master volumes. I'm going to turn the volume up on the clean channel. I'll show you we have the clean.

Totally clean. You can switch that there and you'd get -- start getting into some halfway, what I call Texas clean type stuff.

So kind of halfway clean in there. Where this amp really starts to shine though is really into the straight rock and roll rhythm type stuff. When you put it into the crunch mode in the clean channel.

So you got that. Then you have the lead channel. Lead channel, same tone, same everything, just more gain. If you can see through here, you got a series of preamp tubes. Every time you get into from clean to crunch to lead, you just keep cascading more gain from tubes up the line. No crazy circuitry, no fuzz stuff inside, just all tubes.

And then basically the two master volumes, one for each. You have an overall presence control, you have a digital reverb. Now what we did is we popped in a digital reverb, picked a medium hall type patch like we use in the studio. I have it set on 1 which puts it in a kind of a nice little space around it [JOE DELANEY PLAY A CHORD WITH SMALL REVERB], but you know if you want to get crazy, you can go surf [JOE DELANEY PLAYS A DESCENDING CHROMATIC SLIDE PATTERN]

All four models come with the footswitch. On the 6260, the switch between clean and lead, switch to reverb on and off, and we'll switch the effects loop in and out. All the amps have an effects loop. Right now, I have a little delay in the background [JOE DELANEY DEMONSTRATES DELAY EFFECT] and can pop it right out, so you'd pick your favorite effect and put it into the loop and it's rigth there on the footswitch..

These heads, they're $499 MAP price in the U.S. and there's a combo version, 212 combo, all of those are $100 more than each head, so that would be $599 for the combo version of this which is 212. It has two 50-watt, 12" speakers, the same speakers that are in the cabinet. The cabinet has 200 watts, has four speakers, will run in stereo or mono, and has a street price of $249. So, any of the models may say you can get a half stack for -- get out of the door of any store for under a grand. So, it's been a great show, the place has been jamming here, and every body's taking about it and so I'm sure you're going to see them everywhere.
