Cableguys Curve 2: Updated Synth Plugin

December 14, 2011
Cableguys released the Curve 2 virtual synthesizer instrument plugin for Windows and Mac.

Version two of the Cableguys Curve virtual synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac is just around the corner. Within the next couple months, Cableguys will be launching the public beta version of Curve 2 -- a new and improved version that adds an expanded preset library, additional creative sound features, and more.

As Cableguys notes, the original Curve soft synth introduced unique waveform editing and preset sharing to the world of synthesizers. Version 2 is in the making, taking its preset sharing steps further and adding more creative sound features, such as drawable envelopes, a bigger and more consistent sound library, better audio quality, an easier to use interface and layout, and access to an interactive user community.

What's new in Curve 2:

  • Enhanced Audio – Curve’s flexibility of drawing waveforms for its aliasing-free OSCs and LFOs brought inspiring, unique sounds. Version 2 adds drawable envelopes, allows for two waveforms per OSC, and adds a comprehensive Unison mode.

  • Expanded Preset Library – Curve’s preset library is a shared online database. Version 2 makes sharing sounds even better by adding a version history plus author and preset descriptions, and by providing a consistent library.

  • Improved Usability – According to Cableguys, Curve got praises for its great usability and slick interface. Per request from the company's users, Cableguys has improved the color scheme. Version 2 brings a new layout and adds MIDI assignment as well.

  • The Curve Community – Since the first beta of Curve 1.0, the Curve community steers the synthesizer’s future by submitting bug reports and feature requests and by sharing presets.

The public beta version for Curve 2 will be launched in the first quarter of 2012, and more features will be added later. Those who purchase Curve 1 or the Cableguys Bundle now will be able to receive the upgrade to Curve 2 for free when it is available.
