Cakewalk SONAR 8: Cakewalk Tells Us Its Three-Point Plan
Cakewalk and Digidesign are embattled in a "version 8 war" with their new editions of SONAR and Pro Tools coming out in a very close time frame from one another. We talk to Alex, a SONAR Product Manager, about the goals behind SONAR 8 and the improvements made within the latest model.
ALEX WESNER: Hi. I'm Alex Wesner. I'm with Cakewalk. I'm the Sonar Project Manager, and I'm here with Gearwire.Com to talk about what's new in Sonar 8.
So, in Sonar 8, we focused on three areas of the product. One was the core application and performance and optimization to get you more tracks, better power, and lower latencies.
The second focus was on effects, so we have some really exciting effects like the Transient Shaper, Tube Leveler, Channel Tools Processing Plugin, Native Instruments Guitar Rig LE, and lots of great stuff.
And also with instruments in Sonar, we a full version of Dimension Pro, a we have a new version of -- a new instrument called Beatscape which is a 16-part looping instrument with REX support and drag and drop functionality from Sonar and built-in AudioSnap slicing and effects and lots of good stuff.
So, what we did with Sonar 8 as a whole is we focused on -- well, I should say we completed the picture of a music production application for everybody's needs.
